has a terrible selection. On the outside, everybody was cheering for the end of this show and the beginning of a new era, but deep inside, it breaks my heart a little bit that one of the greatest shows in WWE history is coming to the end. Now, I wasn’t around when ECW was really extreme, but watching enough matches through old PPVs, YouTube, and other sources showed me that ECW really was a great brand back in its heyday. And believe me, compared to NXT, ECW is going to look great. Now, I know there can’t be that many goods and bads in a one-hour episode. But I think the final ECW deserves a good overview.THE BADLet’s start with the bad news first, The Abraham Washington Show. This show is, simply put, the saddest act the WWE has ever put together. This show really doesn’t get talked about enough. It is just so bad. Yes, Tony, whatever Vladimir Kozlov was saying in Russian was so funny that you had to laugh for the next five minutes.Doesn’t the WWE have better things to televise than this garbage? I mean, who the heck is Abraham Washington? And for that matter, what is Tony Atlas’s purpose for the show? He laughs, and he laughs, and he laughs the most pitiful laugh I have ever heard. But he never talks. He just walks up to the mic and laughs; laughs when they’re trying to be funny, hell, laughing when their trying to make a serious point, too. I don’t know if this is the WWE’s idea of a sarcastic joke or if this is the best they can come up with. This took valuable time off what could’ve a killer and memorable main event. It looked OK at first with 20 minutes left, Christian came out, gave a five minute speech, then two minute commercial, another two minute entrance, a little bit of play fighting, commercial, and then BAM, five minutes left in the main event and only one weapon used.OK, it shouldn’t really be considered a serious usage of a weapon. A kindle stick to the finger. The general consensus among most hockey fans leading up to the Men’sHockey Tournament at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics is that the gold medalwill be won by one of the three following countries: Canada, Russia, ordefending champion Sweden. However, there are three primary reasons for why Team USA can stage an upset reminiscent of the 1980Miracle on Ice team. At 6′3″, 229 pounds, the now former Chippewa has the build and mental makeup to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. Beside Gibbs is known to draft later OL for his scheme.Just think of the headaches opposing head coaches would have for our defense Just think of theSuper Bowl XXXV. How many ways can this commercial be classified as controversial. That’s a really big bowl of pasta! “The Terror” made $75k to show, $75k to win and received the Knockout of the Night bonus.Frank Trigg can use the $30k he made to find a good barber and cut that hair! That was probably the last we have seen of Trigg inside the octagon. The preliminary card fighters salaries are listed below:Mac Danzig $20k to show, $20k to win, totaling $40k.Justin Buccholz $8k.Melvin Guillard $14k to show, $14k to win, totaling $28k.Ronnys Torres $4k.Rob Emerson $12k to show, $12k to win, totaling $24k.Phillipe Nover $10k.Phil Davis $5k to show, $5k to win, totaling $10k.Brian Stann $17k.Chris Tuchscherer $10k to show, $10k to win, totaling $20k.Tim Hague $7k.Joey Beltran $6k to show, $6k to win totaling $12k.Rolles Gracie $15k.

Tallet and others get a few starts, but for the most part, bail out bad starts and get the sixth and seventh innings.BattingAaron Hill and Adam Lind continue their dominance at the plate, hit for 30+ home runs again with 100 RBIs each and a .290 batting average. Little did we know, that an era with such great QBs could ever be duplicated. Not via the gin-soaked throat of Madame Margie The Menopausal Medium in the back room of a London Road pub one wet Tuesday afternoon, but on a baking hot day in Melwood in June 1975, when I asked him to name the best Liverpool player he’d ever managed:”I’ve had manyskillful men,” he rasped, “and the likes of Peter Thompson, Ian St John, Kevin Keegan and Steve Heighway were the ones who caught the eye But the best professional of the lot was Gerry Byrne He wasn’t flashy and he wouldn’t score you goals But he was hard andskillful and gave you everything he had More than that he was totally honest Which is the greatest quality of all. His Combine performance could be what decides if he goes above Dan LeFevour or not as the No 4 quarterback. 2 over and over until he finally gets it right. That’s not the case for Tom Izzo’s Spartans (19-4, 9-1), who were absolutely manhandled by Wisconsin 67-49 on Tuesday night. Since then, Swick has compelled a 4-1 record since dropping to the welterweight division.

Are either of those two running backs able to bring a one-two punch that the Steelers are seeking and add some excitement to their already high powered offense? Willie Parker will turn 30 this November and LaDainian Tomlinson will turn 31 in June, but LT’s numbers have been astonishing every year since he entered the league in 2001. Manning had looked solid until that drive?just remember the beautiful pass to Dallas Clark when Manning was forced to roll out?but during that drive Manning’s accuracy left him. Jameer Nelson was hurt for much of the end of last year — including the playoff. Look, they’re probably going to cut your brother too, and I can’t afford to lose two big contracts like this.

Oklahoma will have a chance to play spoiler to any hopes Texas Tech may be harboring of making the NCAA tournament when the two teams will more than likely meet in the first round of the conference tournament. He batted .301, with 16 home runs and 66 RBI.Despite those numbers, Mat Gamel will become the full-time starter for the Brewers at third base. The play called for a pass to receiver Freddie Solomon, but Solomon was covered and worse, the Cowboys’ defensive line was bearing down on Montana. “There are some things he can do, but I think the other pieces we have in place are going to have to perform to their offensive capabilities for us to get away with not relying solely on say what a Carlos Delgado would have brought.” So if the other guys don’t perform, we’re screwed? Sounds like our esteemed leader is none too excited about his offense to start the season. Don’t get too down though, Mets fans, because our indomitable GM, Mr Omar Minaya, is about to complete the deal of the century. Oh well, I think we should sort out the defending first.ArsenalAdam.

This is a toughsport and if he’s going to fight somebody like Katsidis you have to be100 percent focused. Heynckes will be looking to smash that record, and alongside that, send Bayern tumbling down the staircase. Christian NerlingerThe Bayern director of sport didn’t have a busy weekend. 21:  Florida State (19-7, 7-5) (ACC) The Seminoles are in sixth place in the ACC right now, they go at North Carolina on Wednesday. RPI: 40S.O.S.: 57  Georgia Tech (18-9, 6-7) (ACC) Derrick Favors’ put-back with three seconds to go should have given the Yellow Jackets their second win in a row, but Maryland?s Cliff Tucker countered it with a three-pointer at the buzzer. With the exception of having to fight for his second triple Axel, his jumps were clean, and his take-offs were first-rate.Plushenko had the quad, and he nailed it in combination with a triple toe It was perfection. In this way, every team is on a level playing field and can be compared The final results seemed to me to be pretty dead on So let’s get to it..

He has been for two years, and will continue his role as leader and playmaker for the duration of his career in East Lansing. One of the keys to the 11th-ranked Spartans’ (10-3, 20-6) success in last year’s tournament was their depth. What ensued next is probably the single greatest play in NFL history. Eli Manning took the snap and was immediately surrounded by three Patriots. Penn State came into this game on a tear, as the offense had been in beast mode recently, averaging 510 yards of offense over the last three games coming into this one. His Hero Card holder is none other than the famous AFLAC Duck. T he 2nd set went with serve with neither player getting much of a chance to break before Isner eventually sealed the set on the tiebreaker to win the match 6-1 7-6. Earnhardt Ganassi driver Juan Pablo Montoya also recently revealed that he and his wife Connie are expecting their third child. In fact, JPM, who is known for his Twitter addiction, “tweeted” his good news. ?By the way the wife is pregnant with our third child!!!” JPM said in his tweet.

The Isles scored more goals in this game than they did in the firstthree games against Tampa, when they were outscored 13-4. The teamssplit the two Coliseum games, but the Lightning win the season seriesthree games to one. Then the Royals struck. The Royals Respond I was almost home when Willie Wilson hit a fly-ball double near the right-field foul pole with two outs. The value he brings to the table speed wise if the ability to go from first to third on a single, or score from second base.On the offensive side of the ball, the White Sox have decided to move away from a lineup geared towards power hitting and home runs, and focus more on pitching and defense. Dirk is arguably the top power forward in the league. Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City As the third-leading scorer, Durant is an easy pick. The streak began with the benching of defenseman Wade Redden, who eventually was re-inserted into the line-up.The Rangers rebounded from the Philadelphia loss with just six goals in their next three games. So why not give it a try?As things stand right now, the most interesting part of the NBA All-Star Game is talking about who was left off the rosters..

Davydenko will now place Fernando Verdasco in the 4th round.. Dashon Goldston had four interceptions, so he did his part this season, however, with Dre? Bly a free agent this offseason and Tarrell Brown more of a nickel corner, they need a star cornerback. Offensive GuardThe tackles played well this year, featured by Joe Staley. The Gaels won 56-53 as a Manhattan comeback fell short.Since then, Manhattan (8-16, 3-11 MAAC) has continued to lose, dropping into ninth place in the MAAC. If you don’t, then your execution suffers. And although my execution didn’t suffer too significantly this time, it’s a guarantee it will during a pivotal shot somewhere on the course.

Trust me, I owned this kid from the moment he got the nod, and he was nothing but gold. He and Tony spend some time together and they’re going to continue to do that. Wayne Rooney will take up the main striking role for England at the World Cup in South Africa Quite right too. So it wasn?t a surprise to hear that Berry had a hand in the design of the logo and uniforms,?Since that is kind of under my umbrella, I better be excited about it and I am probably a little bit biased, but I think it is unbelievable,? Berry said. This year has also started very well for Australia, they managed to beat Pakistan 5-0 in a ODI series which concluded just last week. They were down to ten men.Mikel Arteta came on for Everton after Fellaini couldn’t continue and had to stay off after coming off after the tackle.Everton then had a lot of possession, but few chances. It’s almost like the fantasy football gods have something against you the year after you win the title.

Though nowhere near him in terms of flash, NC State’s Robert Crisp may be more college-ready than his mammoth OT counterpart, Seantrel Henderson. He better be with the way things have shaken out for Tom O’Brien and the Wolf Pack. And what was done on January 4 is the only way forward. For the good of professional wrestling, I hope fans of both promotions look at this issue by supporting the return of the Monday Night Wars. Being paired up with Jim Ross, the two displayed great chemistry and saved the Invasion angle from completing going up in smoke. Tyler Smith, though, is a decorated quarterback prospect, ranked 8th in the nation according to ESPN.Smith has size, an incredibly strong arm and he has an offensive-minded coach to help him develop. If “The Fridge” gets a chance to stick around he could turn things around with the Terrapins.Defensive End Javarie JohnsonThe defensive end from Washington D.C.

Chester Pitts, Houston Texans Oneof the original Texans, Pitts started the first 114 games of his career untila knee injury ended his season two games into 2009. So, another position of need filled. And Al took another nap through our 5th rounder.. Their midfield wasanonymous while their defence without the “continued absence” of Nemanja Vidic looks a pale shadow of itself.Add that to the Red Devils now having too many players who cannot play three games in the space of a week and Alex Ferguson faces a period of rebuilding.Everton snapped into every tackle and showed none of the fear that United have become accustomed to when playing teams outside the top four.Although it was only the Toffees’ third victory in 35 games against the Red Devils, you can see the improvements that Moyes has made at the club. For much of this season, Alex Ferguson has chosen to use a 4-5-1 formation. The sporting world’s biggest career fair is just around the corner. In less than a week, 32 NFL teams worth of scouts, coaches, and general managers will descend onto Indianapolis to poke, prod and interview hundreds of entry-level candidates during this year’s version of the NFL Scouting Combine. And with the Combine just around the corner, it’s time for all the analysis and projections you draftniks can handle. Mel Kiper will update his Big Board and argue with Todd McShay about their opposing mock drafts. Rich Eisen will try to improve upon his full suit-and-loafers 40-time. And Merril Hoge will insist to anybody still listening that the Titans made a mistake in the 2005 draft by taking Vince Young; and they are continuing that mistake by sticking with him, in spite of his 13-3 record in the last 16 games he has started. The Texas Longhorns are often well-represented in the NFL Draft, and this year will be no different. Safety Earl Thomas, only the fourth football player to leave the 40 acres early under Mack Brown, and defensive end Sergio Kindle are almost assuredly first-round locks. Quarterback Colt McCoy and his NCAA record 45 wins will try to shake off concerns about his ailing shoulder and sneak into the first day. And defensive tackle Lamarr Houston, along with eighth-year (or so) senior receiver Jordan Shipley hope to impress teams during the combine and various team workouts to work their way up the draft boards. There are no certainties when it comes to the NFL draft. While each of these players enjoyed a great deal of individual success, there are no guarantees when or even if they will contribute for the NFL team that drafts them. For every Matt Ryan or Mark Sanchez, there are dozens of quarterbacks that take years to get assimilated into the system to which he was drafted before they are successful. Receivers often need hundreds of hours of practice to get in-sync with their new quarterback before they can be relied on. And defensive players must get used to new terminology and schemes before they fully grasp the defense they get drafted into. And so, it’s about time for me to make an initial prediction heading into the week of the NFL combine.Out of all the former Longhorns, the the player that will make the biggest impact for their NFL team in 2010 will be Hunter Lawrence. The Big 12 Championship Game hero will suit up with some NFL team next season and instantly improve their special teams play. His 88.9 percent field goal accuracy would have ranked him seventh in the NFL last season among those with at least 20 field goal attempts. Lawrence also showed some range in his leg during his time in college, converting 9 of 12 field goal attempts of 40 yards or longer.Unlike a lot of his alumni-turned-rookie teammates, Lawrence will be able to be relied upon early. There won’t be a complex playbook he will need to learn. There won’t be any terminology that he will have to pick up. From the get-go, Lawrence will only be asked to buckle up his chin strip and go kick game winners. No pressure, right? But it’s not as if Lawrence isn’t used to the pressure. He will never play in an NFL stadium that seats as many people as Darrell K. Once I got that depressing thought out, I then asked myself what has happened to Kane. Guys who are known well throughout the nation for their unique portrayal of fandom.Lore: Does your fanbase have a certain mystique about it that there is no denying? A fight song that even fans of other teams know? A piece of memorabilia that is unmistakable when seen? A well-known section that opposing fans and players wouldn?t dare go near?Knowledge: Do your fans know about the history of your team? If your team hasn?t won a Super Bowl but has a world championship, but your fans aren?t aware of it, how strong is their fanaticism? Do your fans truly understand the game of football, or can they just regurgitate what ESPN tells them? Home Crowd Atmosphere: Usually overrated in these type of things, but it does play a factor. But with the Olympics coming up and Miller likely to start for the U.S.

See Chicago Bulls in 2000 when they missed out on Tim Duncan, Grant Hill, and Tracy McGrady. Even getting two top free agents doesn’t guarantee success. Look at all the close calls the Lakers have  had this year that have been forgotten in light of their newly found drive.( One would think that they are actually getting paid to play now!!) We have Kobe’s running three point bank shot off one leg over Miami Heat’s D-Wade a terrific defender might I add. Then you have Kobe’s buzzer beater against the Milwaukee Bucks Charlie Bell, From the time Kobe got the ball you knew that game was over. He has four wins (29 percent); nine top-fives (64 percent), 10 top-10s (71 percent), and an average finish of 5.8.In terms of loop data, Johnson leads all drivers with an average running position of 5.5, a driver rating of 122.3, 382 fastest laps run, an average green flag speed of 172.025 mph, and 2,380 laps in the top 15 (95 percent). Cliff pitched extremely well, though, and I began to get really excited for the next season. But then I start getting updates on ESPN about the Blue Jays looking to trade him At that point I said, “Thats great. The Canadian team, entering last as is customary for the host nation, enters BC Place to cheers and applause as camera flashes around the stadium flood the darkness.. Jeremy Jacobs, the Bruins’ owner, has kept butts in the seats and precious little else.

When ESPN’s Heather Dinich is already writing articles titled “Don’t Give Up On Yates…Yet”, it’s about time you hang it up, son.Yates struggled with inconsistency throughout last season, excelling in the Tar Heels’ upset over Virginia Tech, but throwing dreadfully in the losses to Georgia Tech and Virginia. As a two-way, gritty forward, he is one of my favourite players of all-time (though I confess I remember mostly his days after leaving Toronto since I did not really start following the NHL until the mid-to late 90s).He is in fact the type of player San Jose has been missing, and they may have added some grit to their blueline Sunday.(See how I did that there? I went full-circle from a long digression to back on point.)Niclas Wallin comes to the Sharks along with a fifth-round pick in this summer’s draft in exchange for a second-round pick. And it has also been said that Ricky Steamboat will be helping Danielson out for a little while. It is believed that Steamboat will have an on-air role with Danielson as his manager. In 2002, he played as a reserve safety, appearing in every game He finished with 42 tackles and a pass deflection.

Now that the Saints have partied on Bourbon Street and paraded through New Orleans to celebrate Sunday’s Super Bowl triumph, media and fan attention quickly turns to key offseason issues throughout the rest of the country. Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, and Tom Brady all earned Pro Bowl invitations before Matt Schaub. Hood I believe deserves another chance to start, and hopefully the Titans will give him that chance via a team/player friendly deal for 1-2 seasons. We had gone from ninth place in 1966 to first place in 1967.Not Since 1948The Cardinals won the National League pennant easily A New York team was not in the World Series. Berry is as big of playmaker as you will find in this draft. Not only is he a big playmaker, he can also be a leader on defense and play any secondary position well at the professional level. The Seahawks are in a need of a QB. “Should the focus for the Rockets have been to seek out a center and not a swing like Trevor Ariza”?I think it’s a great move for whoever lands Ariza. He scored six goals and 22 points during his NHL career, so he hardly comes off as an offensive threat.Overall, it looks as if the Fins will have to rely on a total team effort (especially offensively) to overcome their defensive shortcomings.

As a reminder, he injured himself after 51 seconds of the third game last World Cup and was ruled out for the rest of the tournament. While it’s looking to be another bleak season for an impatient Toronto fanbase, Brian Burke has the tools and the staff to continue a successful rebuilding period. Since the whole Keary Colbert experiment had failed, I was excited to see what we would do in 2007.Picking up Jarrett was the steal of the draft at least to me. If he is able to stay healthy for the rest of the season, it is likely Smith will only have Rollins in front of him.

Tanana was the first pitcher to show me that it wasn’t always the guy that threw the hardest that could get batters out, but a guy with smarts could do just as well, if not better.I wish Joel Zumaya could learn that lesson…or just stay healthy. TE Shannon Sharpe earned another Pro Bowl nod with 1107 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Last year, as the season was about to start, there were no shortage of sports writers and tennis commentators who were writing Roger Federer’s obituary. They said the young guys were hungry and coming too fast. Hours learning how to check down and pull defenders with your eyes in a way only someone like Josh, who did it himself, can teach. Now after the final season of the decade was strewn with injury, Heupel may have submitted his best work to date. Not many coaches would react so well to a star like Bradford going down But Josh had suddenly lost his No.

The Brazilian’s best time of 1m23.204s was enough to put him third however, a tenth off Toro Rosso’s Sebastian Buemi. This is a 44-13 ATS System hitting 77.2% over the last 5 seasons. “Neuvy is a special kid. He’s really talented, he’s real calm, real confident.  It?s the same story every year.Mike Krzyzewski does a ?phenomenal coaching job? with ?less athletic? but ?intelligent, fundamentally sound? basketball players.

A big-time injury has opened the door for a pair of rookies eager to step into the spotlight, while another first-year player has been making the most of his team’s free-wheeling style of play.Note: This article is also available at NBA Soup.Risers:Darren Collison, PG, New Orleans HornetsWith Chris Paul to be sidelined for at least a month with knee surgery, rookie Darren Collison will step in and attempt to fill the enormous shoes vacated by CP3.In two games since Paul went down, Collison has responded extremely well, posting 17 points and 18 assists in the first game, with 16 points and 14 assists in the second. While his shooting percentage hasn’t been great, he does too many things too well to be ignored. Marcus Thornton, SG, New Orleans HornetsAnother Hornet rookie, Marcus Thornton, has gone off in his past five games, with point totals of 19, 18, 20, 14, and 25.With Paul out, Thornton’s opportunities to score on his own should continue to increase. However, he’s not a threat to do a whole lot aside from putting the ball in the basket (though he did randomly post nine rebounds Saturday against Memphis).  Stephen Curry, G, Golden State WarriorsCurry just completed the best month of his brief career, averaging 19 points per game while shooting ridiculous percentages of 48 percent from the field, 49 percent from three-point range, and 89 percent from the free throw line.As was the case in college, he’s proven to be an extremely explosive scorer at times, and has one of the best shooting strokes in the entire league. His confidence is rising, and it’s reflected in how he’s been playing.Curry’s ball-handling has improved since his college days, and his assist numbers (about five per game) and steals (almost two) should also be beneficial to an owner. Fallers: Andre Iguodala, G/F, Philadelphia 76ersIguodala is a versatile player that typically fills a stat sheet, but his scoring numbers plummeted in January. He averaged just 13 points per game for the month (down from 19 over the first two months), and he shot just 40 percent from the field. His scoring numbers have certainly been affected by the return of Allen Iverson, and I would expect those numbers to gradually go back up as Iguodala becomes more comfortable playing with Iverson again. While his fantasy impact should cause some concern, it’s definitely not time to panic just yet. Josh Howard, G/F,  Dallas MavericksLast week, Jason Terry was inserted full-time into the Mavericks’ starting lineup, meaning a sharp decline in the minutes for Josh Howard.Terry has responded well, scoring near 20 points in each of the last five games. As we all know, Randy Orton’s first push was a mega fail. After a year away from the game, Thomas realized his career is done. 6 Duke has found a lot of success the last two seasons beating the Cavaliers.  I personally am very excited to see what Heyward can do on a regular basis! This article is also featured on C70 At The Bat. Growing up in Washington D.C Rodney McGruder didn?t start playing basketball until the Boys and Girls club he played football for advised him that he could be good in basketball because of his length at such a young age. I definitely do not have any interest in delivering anything that would be second-best to what I’ve done before.”When asked about his favorite Wrestlemania match, Austin his Wrestlemania 17 main event match against The Rock, but admits that turning heel and aligning himself with Mr.

Saturday. This article is also featured on The BIG HOUSE Blog. Mardy Gilyard was incredibly active in the game, from returning kicks to continually catching the long ball from Dan Lefevour.Gilyard was already considered one of the top pro prospects, but I would be surprised if he made it past the third round in the draft after his display in the game. We’ll have to see what Gainey does, but I think any smart GM would as least have to look at what they can get for him.. Yes, track time is important, especially someone with only 80 laps in a stock car under race conditions. It would cap a nice but quiet career in Chicago. Many Bears fans questioned what the Bears were doing when they selected running back Garrett Wolfe a few seasons ago in the NFL Draft. and his then DEI team, it wasn?t just points paying races they were winning.

We could see Tebow play in college football for 15 more years. All I?m saying is that something is wrong when a 23 year old man is taking chunks of time off the tour to deal with injuries. Through free agency or the draft, the offensive line can be easily upgraded to help Al get his wish and move to the power running game rather than zone blocking.Logan Makins doesn’t want to leave the Patriots, period. I stand by that 100 percent. Bringing in Hudson would have been defensible. He’s been a good player most of his career, has decent on-base skills, and apparently is revered by several on the squad. But it would be a HUGE mistake to block Desmond’s playing time this season bringing in a journeyman like Adam Kennedy. Kennedy is not a good fielder, the primary stated reason Mike Rizzo was trying to lure Hudson here. The Nats would be much better off, this season and in the long run, allowing Desmond to grow into the position at the Major League level.Sure, Desmond still has some problem with some of the throws from short. It’s not lack of arm strength or range, it’s that he sometimes just gets careless. He can make the difficult look routine and the routine look terrible.Does that sound like anyone else you know? The Nationals had to play Ryan Zimmerman from the moment he looked like a major leaguer, which wasn’t too long into his professional career. He was, and remains, the face of the franchise. But the team allowed him to work through his throwing problems, which lasted seemingly right up until the time that Manny Acta was let go last season. Not many people remember this now, but on Friday, July 17, Zim was second in the National League in errors. Not just for third basemen. In the entire National League. His fielding percentage at third base was third worst of anyone that qualified at that point. But because of who he is, and his hitting, Zimmerman was allowed the opportunity to work through his throwing problem, and he did. His defensive performance in the second half of the season was stellar. He would commit just five more errors after July 17, and go on to win his first Gold Glove.I’m not suggesting that Ian Desmond will win a Gold Glove. But what I am suggesting is that he be given every opportunity this season to prove, or disprove, that he is going to be a viable major league shortstop. In his tryout last September, one manager Jim Riggleman was reluctant to grant until Cristian Guzman came up lame, Desmond certainly held his own (.280/.318/.561 with four homers in 89 plate appearances). Rizzo likes to urge caution about September tryouts, but they’re Major League games regardless. The Nationals are all about building through the draft, home-growing their players. Ryan Zimmerman was the first, and remains the only, position player the Nats have developed since moving here from Montreal.Ian Desmond can become the second, if they just give him the opportunity.. ?We were lucky to have each other,? said Lilly in a recent interview.

It’s someone that I think can help us take the next step, so we’re all pretty excited about it.”Excited about what exactly?”Well, I think we have a chance,” Cable said. All of the Nuggets bigs are feisty and gritty, and they’re more talented than…….Continue Reading at MySportsPress. Women?s National Team conducted a ?Fan Celebration Tour,? playing 10 games across the United States between September and December On Nov. In the month of January they went 3-9-2 and fell very quickly out of the playoffs with their worst losing streak in almost 100 years. In that ten game losing streak the Bruins scored more then two goals once and scored one or less goal in five of those games You cannot win games scoring that little. Whether he’s isolating or using a screen, Evans gets to the rim an incredible number of times.

I say “somewhat” because I truly believe my capabilities allow me to reach a level only achieved through hard work and focused determination I say “far fetched” because, by nature, I’m a realist. But could any fan really turn down the opportunity to coach the club of his heart? After being a player is it not the dream job, the chance of a lifetime? Yes, he probably knew, deep down, that it was too soon, but love conquers all, right?Another error by the men in charge?looking toexperience failed, so they went for the cheap option. Record stills stands.Forty-nine Glazed Doughnuts in eight minutes, Eric ?Badlands? Booker Of course, this isn?t Badlands? only talent. Canada earned its third gold medal of the games thanks to Christine Nesbitt (pictured) who took first in Women’s 1,000-meter Speed Skating. Despite that, he does have his good seasons at the plate, which is more than can be said of Adam Everett, who is consistently bad every year. All bets are off. The Colts better hope they can find another wrench by Sunday..

cup run as well.As far as filling the void for Peter Crouch, Dindane is a far off that mark but he leads Portsmouth in goals and has really been their only productive striker. This is an interesting deal that could rid the Bills of Lynch’s contract for an upgrade at corner, but still, it’s as likely as not.THE LIKELY2.Matt Hasselback To the BillsLet’s face it- Carroll will go for a new QB in Seattle and Hasselback will be traded or released. Jason Kidd is playing against father time yet again, averaging 9 assists a game and controlling the high powered offense of Dallas. However, he is not very good at creating his own shot, and has never been known for his ability to drive and finish If he?s driving, he?s usually looking to dish it off We even saw it at the very end of the Louisville game. Smuckers Jam: This is a great product for Tiger to endorse because of the possible taglines. Turner bought the Braves mainly to keep the franchise in Atlanta. In order to drive revenue and interest in the team, Turnerbroadcast the team on his TBS network. One thing that Ryan has to understand is that, I know he understands he’s a superstar, but he has to understand that you can’t, and I think he has, I mean, he’s really kind of tapered off, but you’ve always got to remember you’ve got to put your team first.

“Coach Hagan just keeps telling me to focus on my grades, so I will be eligible,” Duncan told BuffStampede in December. If they can’t be the best team in baseball or the AL, they can and will be the second best.Off-season moves: signed P Scott Atchison, signed 3B Adrian Beltre, acquired P Boof Bonser from Minnesota, signed OF Mike Cameron, signed P Fabio Castro, acquired 3B/INF Bill Hall from Seattle for 1B Casey Kotchman, acquired OF Jeremy Hermida from Florida, signed P John Lackey, P Joe Nelson, and signed SS/UTIL Marco Scutaro. They would have a very balanced starting five and a solid bench, instantly making them competitive against a wider variety of teams. Coach Shannon’s comment on that? The update is that there is no update. Malcolm Jenkins is probably the heir-apparent to Darren Sharper at free safety, and Tracy Porter has had issues staying healthy. On a bad wheel and a bad wrist, he took on the assignment of guarding Carmelo Anthony in the next round, and while he did it to varying degrees of success, the Mavericks were outdone by the Nuggs But Josh has had his share of boners as well A poorly-timed birthday party and admission of pot use His little American flag incident Drag racing charges that were eventually dropped. His competition might not have been the best, but as the Lions have seen with Sammie Lee Hill, sometimes that doesn’t matter.Legarrette Blount-RB-Oregon?Look.

Lucie yesterday, and can you believe it, he was optimistic about the Mets chances in 2010.He must be new to the system. Something like that is almost laughable when it comes to the New York Mets.I think some time in the mid-70s the sitting mayor of New York made it illegal for the words “Mets” and “optimistic” to appear in the same sentence.“I obviously knew the performance record-wise last year wasn’t what people wanted, but I also understood there were a lot of injuries,” Bay said yesterday at training camp. He’s the motor the drives the second unit, and Phil Jackson’s choice to finish games, because the Lakers are most effective when he’s on the court. The Lakers are also most effective with him off the court He’s their glue guy The center of their pregame ritual Ron Artest’s best friend The most beloved Laker Lamar Odom has arrived He’s a winner A champion The right choice for the Lakers, and always has been.. Andy Reid coached teams have received a reputation for NOT doing this the past few years. I’m not excited that he’s still the coach, but I have to give credit when it’s due. As soon as the Babel transfer collapsed, the move was a no-goer.Bruce might have been tempted to sell had a realistic offer been lodged, but with Sunderland struggling in the league, keeping Jones was the smart move…for now, at least.Rating?7/10.  It is amazing just how consistent the Lions have been over the last two or three decades. It’s no wonder they only have one playoff win in 10 games played.I read this article about Lomas Brown on the Detroit Free Press web site. He’s quoted as saying when Darryl Rogers was head coach of the Lions in 1985, he was ”spaced out.”You remember Rogers, right? Here’s one of his now famous quotes “What does a guy have to do to get fired around here?” Not a surprising question when you consider his 18-40 record from 1985 to 1988.I had to laugh reading Brown’s recollection of just how spaced out Rogers was. Apparently, Rogers was more interested on how many pigeons were on top the Pontiac Silverdome rather than working on strategy for the upcoming game. Brown considers Rogers lunacy the epitome of what has gone wrong with the Lions since the 1980’s.Granted, Wayne Fontes came in and some tiny dude named Barry Sanders, which gave Lomas the chance to block for one of the greatest running backs ever to have played the game.Brown also recounted just how effective of a running back Barry was. If the offense was set with five lineman and the defense brought 6, Lomas knew that if the 5 lineman did their assignments, Barry could take care of the sixth. Some of the classic highlight films are of Sanders faking the jocks off of players in the open field. After reading the article and remembering what a great left tackle Brown was, I started to feel frustration again. The Lions had plenty to build on during the Sanders years but they failed to take the next step.Sanders was an outstanding running back, no question. But the playbook, for many years, consisted of run Barry run. Keep showing defenses the same thing and eventually, they will figure it out.Can you imagine what kind of seasons the Lions might have had if there had been a decent tight-end on the team? In the 10 years Barry played, the Lions had 14 tight ends for a collective 167 catches and 1,428 yards. Included on the roster were stellar names like Dave Little, Eugene Riley, Jimmie Johnson, Ron Hall, Pete Metzallars and my personal favorite, Pete Chryplewicz. Granted, David Sloan played in the latter years of the 90’s and even made the Pro-Bowl but by then, Barry had grown weary of Detroit’s non-commitment to winning. And that’s what it boils down to, doesn’t it? Outside of the 1990’s and some occasional spurts in previous decades and of course the last 10 years can anyone clearly state that the Lions were comitted to winning? As the self-appointed Master of the Obvious, I will state that last year’s 2-14 season was nothing to brag about. And yet, despite the dismal season, fans are finding reasons to believe in this team. Could it be we might finally have the quarterback the Lions have been seeking for decades? Both Barry Sanders  and ex-Lion head coach Steve Marucci  feel that Stafford can be the savior of the Lions, provided he gets the support he needs.Which is where the Lions have failed miserably over and over again. They did it with Billy Simms and Barry Sanders. Until Stafford was drafted, you could make a case of the Lions failing with Calvin Johnson. But Detriot has a great chance to make all those bad memories go away. I fully expect 2010, to be the year the Raiders stop mismanaging the running backs. He didn’t get the decision.Yes, starting pitchers went more than six or seven innings, and giving up three runs in six innings was not effective pitching. Two Home RunsDanny Cater, not known for his power, led off the White Sox 15th inning with a home run off Pete Mikkelsen.

He makes his entire team better as players and he takes the blame for every loss with no haste towards any of his teammate. It?s all but certain that NOLA will go defense, and the defending champs could be getting a steal with Weatherspoon.. Five minutes for a penalty turn, the other 10 when BMW Oracle Racing caught up to Alinghi 15 minutes into the race and flew ahead at 23.5 knots.Essentially, USA-17 wanted to prove that it was “The Ultimate Sailing Machine.”It got its wish. While Alinghi performed a bit better in the second race by taking a lead between the start and the windward mark, they were penalized for heading inside the start box before the five-minute warning signal began.Coutts’s BMW Oracle Racing crew closed in, eventually took over at the mark, and never looked back.Powered by a superior wing weapon tri platform, USA-17 made a push to stretch towards the finish line after light winds forced them to make a gybe.By the time Alinghi crossed the line, they finished 5:26 behind the USA.Time-wise, these Swiss were Swiss cheese. left town which suggests that possibility is slim.If he could relieve the pressure on Noel Devine while providing a different kind of rushing attack, wouldn’t everyone win?I’m not saying make him the next Charles Woodson, but something along those lines would help WVU get the most out of its most intriguing commitment..

John?s is slowly fading away. Washington Coming off a win against California, the Huskies looked like they could compete with the Bears for the Pac-10 title. At age 34, he still has a good chance of upsetting the field and earning a medal. The Americans best medal chance for the men is in the doubles, where Brian Martin and Mark Grimmette bring a ton of experience to the task. The Luge event is a fast, dangerous event that is incredibly exciting to watch. He just hopes the NFL owners and coaches aren?t as shortsighted as he was. Brown was one of Dan LeFevour?s favorite targets and served double-duty for the 23rd-rankedChippewas.An early-entry prospect and possible mid-to-late round pick, he would have probably fared much higher if he returned for his final year. He?s been clocked in the low 4.4 range and was an outstanding return-specialist for the Chippewas. Peyton Manning may have a Super Bowl Trophy, but because of a bad decision in Super Bowl XLIV, he’ll also be remembered for an “almost.”The “almost” came in the form of a fourth quarter pick six to Tracy Porter. In 1987, Drexler was one of only three NBA players (Magic and Larry were the others) to top 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Randy Foye and Mike Miller will stay at the starting guards.Butler will be heavily missed by Washington. and it is mostly because he can get very emotional on the mound, and also tends to lose control, which means he almost always has people on base in the ninthinning. Overall his numbers don’t look half bad last year, but he did blow five saves, and considering he missed the better part of two months, that isn’t very good. If your league counts WHIP, Valverde will probably hurt you there, but he should get a good number of saves in Detroit and he is also good for over a strikeout an inning. Overall, not a bad guy, just not one that interests me.  Cleveland Indians Kerry Wood Next In Line: Chris Perez, Jess ToddOutside of strikeouts, the one thing that Wood has made a career out of, there wasn’t much good to talk about in Kerry Wood’s first season for the Indians. He blew six saves, his ERA was well over 4.00, and he walked 28 guys in 55 innings, none of which are good numbers for a closer. The fact that Canada can make a solid addition such as Carter is a testament to the overall depth that Canada has and another reminder why Canada will be so tough to beat in Vancouver. So was star linebacker and leading SEC tackler Rennie Curran.

Have a nice day. Conversation between USC players and NCAA Players: So why are we getting the book thrown at us?NCAA: Because your school lacked institutional control.Players: But the coaches and school said they didn’t know what was going on.NCAA: Yes, but they should’ve known what was going on.Players: Should have known? Is that part of institutional control?NCAA: Yes, even if you don’t know what was going on, if you should’ve known what was going on, then that’s just as bad as actually knowing.Players: How do you determine how someone should have known?NCAA: We expect you to bemind readers.Players: Do you have proof that something went on?NCAA: No, but we think something went on We are not a court, so there is no due process If we think something went on, you have to prove it didn’t We are bigger than the Beatles. Houston got him to givethemselves a boost in their shooting and penetration ability, not to let him sit. He’s a 20+ point scorer, and there’s no real reason to think his production should take a significant hit.The addition of Martin could affect the minutes and production of rookie Chase Budinger, as well. Jarred Jeffries, G/F, Houston Rockets (D-)There’s no telling how Jeffries will be used in Houston, but he is a very versatile player and a solid defender, so he could still earn some solid minutes. Hilton Armstrong, F/C, Houston Rockets (D+)Armstrong was wasting away in Sacramento, but could see some increased minutes with Houston’s loss of Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey. His move makes Public relations sense from a cheaters point of view.”I have interviewed every relevant promoter in the industry. A very talented Jiu Jitsu player, Relijic had just made his UFC debut by defeating Wilson Gouveia. The Detroit Lions – Select Russell Okung the big offensive tackle from Oklahoma State. You have Christian drop the ECW Title to big Zeke on the last edition of ecw. Haden wraps up ball-carriers and blitzes as well as any corner in the draft. In fact, his hitting ability is so good that some scouts predict he could play safety once his foot-speed slows later in his career. He fits the Eric Mangini profile as an intelligent football player as well. Early in his career as a Gator, Haden relied on his athletic ability and was susceptible to pump fakes and double moves.

Steve Young has three, but two of those were aquired as a backup. Their special teams took a day off in one loss to Miami and their defense was nowhere to be found in the other. The second hole will either be filled by Loney and/or Martin. If Miami isn’t able to convince him the team will contend next year, the Chicago native would have a hard time saying no to a Bulls offer like that.Same goes for New York.

Placing them on national television and advertising them as much as they have advertised the game this year would help dramatically. You know him, the guy Shawn Merriman sees in his nightmares.

In the women’s individual luge, Germany took gold and bronze on Tuesday. Jeff Reed continues to succeed being 27-31 this year on field goal tries. Connecting GenerationNot once in their mission statement does it mention the words Major League Baseball, saying only that they are there to preserve history. The last time I checked; Joe Jackson and Pete Rose are part of the history of the game. Baseball’s history is not always nice, so how can the Hall of Fame ignore these players? The on field accomplishments of both men more than warrant their induction as being among the best players of their respective eras. I agree with MLB regarding the lifetime bans from MLB , but the Hall of Fame should allow them the opportunity to be recognized for what they did on the field. Players from the modern era who have openly admitted steroid use are not held off ballots. The last three seasons however he has been learning the receiver position with mixed results. Thankfully, Auburn is adding depth to the defensive side of the ball and that side of the ball is where Auburn needs to improve.

My record shows that I have faced world class competitors pretty much my entire career. “It may take a while, as it did with (center) Jeff Saturday last year, because you have to work through budgets ”Source: Indianapolis Colts Examiner This article is also featured on GridironFans .
